Artisan bring sustainable city living to Corstorphine
Demand for urban housing in Edinburgh shows no sign of abating with the submission of plans for 126 homes in Corstorphine by Artisan Real Estate.

In a show of confidence the developer has commissioned 7N Architects and Rankin Fraser to design a mix of apartments at Rowanbank Gardens, on the site of the former Gylemuir Care Home, with ground floor properties benefitting from private gardens together with a large internal garden for use by all.

The project team is rounded out by Atelier 10, Transport Planning, Quattro engineers, Axiom Project Services and streets-UK.

Nicholas Taggart, project Leader at 7N Architects commented: "The 126 new, mixed-tenure, homes are designed around flexible, family living and making it easier to live a sustainable life. The shared courtyard garden will be the heart of this new dense, liveable place, with inclusive spaces for play, communal growing and relaxation to support a sense of community, promote well-being, and enhance the experience of everyday life.”

Charlotte Swanson, Artisan’s regional development manager added: “The buildings are designed to minimise carbon footprint and maximise daylight. The site fits in well with our approach of regenerating brownfield sites with good public transport links, promoting car-free city living through generous secure cycle parking and providing residents with City Car Club membership.”

Additional information has been made available on a dedicated project website with a further community event planned ahead of determination.

Terrible detail at the upper level where the brick facade turns the corner into a mansard sheet metal roof
