Plans to convert a C-listed public library in Kirkcaldy into seven apartments have won approval from Fife Council with the plans deemed to preserve the buildings unique character.

 

Andrew Megginson Architecture and Shine Properties propose to sympathetically overhaul the 1930s structure by retaining character features while repurposing interior spaces.

 

Off-street parking with be provided to the front and sides with shared gardens to the rear, including a small private space for use of the basement flat, accessible via bi-fold doors.

 

In a statement head of planning services, Derek Simpson wrote: "The proposal is compatible with the area in terms of land use, design and scale. Furthermore, no significant impacts would arise in regard to existing levels of residential amenity or road safety. The proposal is also deemed to preserve the character of the category C listed building."

 

The plans complement a residential reconfiguration of the former Viewforth High School a little further down Loughborough Road
