Housing association buys into Dalmarnock vision

Springfield Properties is to go-ahead with tweaked plans for its mammoth Dalmarnock development after agreeing to an £18.2m contract with West of Scotland Housing Association to deliver 114 affordable homes and two commercial units.

Planning consent has already been granted for the riverside community enabling work to begin immediately on delivery of a mix of flats ranging from one to five bedrooms, subject to several minor design revisions.

Innes Smith, CEO of Springfield Properties, said: “At Springfield, we believe everyone deserves a good place to live. We know we can build more homes, for more people, by working with strong partners who have the same vision. We are pleased to be partnering with West of Scotland Housing Association for the first time and look forward to delivering well-designed, attractive, highly energy-efficient homes that will have a positive impact on the area.”

Finished in a combination of light grey brick with darker projecting bays and charcoal fibre cement rainscreen the properties will be brightened with cedar timber cladding to balcony inserts.  Double height horizontal recesses to the brick facades will create shadow and depth.

A ground-floor metal clad ‘picture frame’ surround will accentuate common entrances along Dalmarnock Road, with a projecting commercial unit extending out from the footprint of the apartment block towards Dalmarnock Station.
