Oven ready planning application prepped for defunct Aberdeen bakery

A defunct Aberdeen bakery is to play a new role after being acquired by Cater Group to provide new apartments.

A planning application is expected to be submitted shortly for Chalmers Bakery, situated on Auchmill Road, Bucksburn, which would see the current industrial building swept away for a three-storey linear residential block.

In a statement, client executive Glen Smith wrote: “We (Cater Group) are delighted to have secured another site in Aberdeen. We have developments across Scotland and the UK, but it’s always great to secure sites closer to home, and a stone throw away from our Aberdeen office on Great Northern Road.

“Proposals for the new flatted development look exciting, I think it will be a unique building. Plans are to be submitted in the very near future to demolish the building and build a flatted development. With signs of the property market in Aberdeen picking up, we are excited for our upcoming developments throughout the city.”

Growing demand for accommodation in the area has seen a separate site nearby earmarked for 92 affordable apartments.

The last I read, NRA had been struck off ARB. Is this now recognition that the Architect has been dropped for Architecture?

@#1 - a perfect example of how the ARBs fixation on protection of title over function is totally BS. NR has been found to be incompetent to work as an Architect, yet there is nothing to stop him continuing carrying out architectural work. It is nothing different to a doctor being struck off but still giving a back-alleyway heart transplant!

To clarify Cater Group will be taking this site forward using their own in-house architect and not NRA as previously stated.
