Twin apartment blocks to rise in Thorntonhall

Westpoint Homes are pressing ahead with the delivery of 28 apartments within the commuter village of Thorntonhall, South Lanarkshire.

Beachwood Lea takes the form of twin buildings set amid allocated parking and landscaped grounds arranged as a series of connected ‘garden rooms’, just 10 minutes’ walk from the train station.

First conceived by CALA Homes in 2018 the apartments are finished in buff brickwork with a recessed upper storey housing penthouse living accommodation, finished in contrasting grey cement particle board.

Releasing the homes Westpoint wrote: “Built over two spectacular blocks Beechwood Lea presents 28 bespoke two and three-bedroom apartments, each with uninterrupted views of the rolling countryside. Boasting a full range of modern essentials, including lift access to all floors, high-spec fittings, and allocated parking this makes for a luxurious living option.”

The land had initially been allocated for eight detached houses as part of a larger estate of 42 homes but these were omitted to maximise views of the rolling countryside and allow a more generous stretch of open space to be created.

Just to be clear. The architects are CRGP not 7N as suggested in an earlier version of this article.

Interesting that 7n are denying its them but CRGP. I certainly wouldn't want to own up to this tat. More inarticulate rectangular nonsense, What is being taught in architectural schools these days? Thorntonhall is welcome to that.

To be clear, Thorntonhall is less of a village and more of a gated community and these are a very odd typology to say the least, given the context. So yes, they are welcome to them.

looks like they use the same plans from Barrland Street in Glasgow... but dumped a few floors out

Not that different from the 7N planning drawings. Whilst they may not have raised them through the teenage years, 7N definitely gave birth to them and saw their first day at primary school.
