Williamwood Golf Club homes in on new revenue source

Williamwood Golf Club to the south of Glasgow has teamed up with Mactaggart & Mickel Homes to deliver a block of 14 flats to help plug a revenue shortfall.

Plans prepared by GD Lodge Architects a curved block occupying 0.78 acres of surplus land on Stamperland Crescent, an established suburban setting boasting open westerly views across the fairways.

Extending the existing building line the project is arranged over five floors, including a lower ground floor and recessed attic level with an unbroken eaves line lending horizontal emphasis.

In planning evidence the architects wrote: “The proposed building respects the existing context and building line established by the neighbouring residential properties, whilst also reflecting the curvature of Stamperland Crescent. This has resulted in a softly faceted form, which appears to be curved in nature, forming a statement bookend to the building line.”

Selected materials include multi facing brick, polyester powder coated aluminium infill cladding panels and composite cladding panels.

Eastwood GC gone. Williamwood with a revenue gap. East Renfrewshire planning 18 house plots on their practice ground, Whitecraigs talking to M and M as well. I wonder about Cathcart Castle ,Pollok and the rest. Housebuilders are targetting golf courses big time.
