£15m Newton Mearns school & nursery campus handed over

BAM Construction have handed over the £15m Maidenhill Primary School and Nursery in Newton Mearns to East Renfrewshire Council

Classes have already begun at the BDP-designed facility which provides 444 primary and 120 nursery places together with a multi-use games hall and 2G pitch to serve the fast-growing local population.

Bruce Dickson, regional director at BAM Construction, said: “With the recent schools we have delivered we’ve had to work around an existing site, so it was good on this occasion to build a completely new facility, purpose-built for the long-term needs of the Maidenhill community.”

Councillor Paul O’Kane, convenor for education and equalities at East Renfrewshire Council added: “The new Maidenhill Primary and Nursery will provide the required additional places which will be needed as families move into new homes in the area.”

The Maidenhill campus broke ground in November last year.
