Dalmarnock school caters to Commonwealth Village children

Glasgow City Council has opened its newest school, a 356-pupil primary serving Dalmarnock’s Commonwealth Village.

Designed in-house by the council’s project management and design team Riverbank Primary provides 14 classrooms together with a multi-use games hall and all-weather floodlit sports pitch with scope to grow further in line with pupil demand.

Adopting a contemporary finish of buff and dark brick the school is split between teaching and assembly spaces with accommodation arranged over two floors accessible by a feature stair.

Accessible from a footpath connecting to the Cuningar Loop woodland park the main entrance is defined by a modern clock tower.

The new school is a key part of the 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes’ Village legacy development plan.
