Duns motorsport museum nears the finishing line

The Jim Clark Motorsport Museum in Duns is to reopen on 11 July following a £1.6m expansion, Scottish Borders Council has announced.

Overseen by SBC Architects on behalf of The Jim Clark Trust the project will sit at the heart of a new tourist trail for the area, taking in past haunts of the motoring legend.

Councillor Euan Jardine commented: “Work is progressing well on the new museum, with Live Borders now on-site to complete the internal fit-out and prepare the exhibitions.

“This project has been almost five years in the planning and in just six weeks we will have a fantastic new museum open to the public which will really do justice to Jim Clark’s incredible achievements in the racing world and also his life as a Borders farmer.”

The museum itself will house a replicas Indianapolis 500 trophy as well as film footage and photographs documenting Clark’s motoring career.

Disappointing design, especially given the enormity of Jim Clark’s talent and success.
