Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park is in receipt of a £30m tourism masterplan designed to bring a variety of new attractions and facilities to Lomond Shores, Balloch.

Lomond Banks would include a variety of accommodation from a 92 hotel rooms, 131 self-catering units and 21 private houses and apartments, all augmented by a craft brewery, boathouse, leisure centre and restaurants.

Designed by Anderson Bell + Christie this would include conservation of the A-listed Woodbank House and creation of a ‘station square’ for those arriving by rail.

Andy Miller, director at Lomond Banks, said: “As you can see from our artist impressions, we are fully committed to seeing Balloch become the true gateway to Loch Lomond.
 
“Our plans for West Riverside and Woodbank House offer an opportunity for a unique leisure based development and with Lomond Banks, Scotland will have a quality destination that respects and compliments the surrounding area.”

Expected to complete by 2024 the leisure destination will include landscape upgrades by Gillespies to footpaths and green spaces, including natural woodland.

This is the last thing balloch needs. Traffic and congestion this would add to already such a busy place would be a disaster.

@Barry - This seems to be the attitude all over scotland these days, lets stop development and progress because the infrastructure isn't up to scratch, the state of the road networks in this country is a disgrace but it shouldn't be used as an excuse to stop things, it should be used as the catalyst for pressuring governments into investing in the infrastructure and increasing accessibility around the country.

Having said that, I'm surprised to see the visuals of the space ship using timber cladding which can be seen locally to the site as a bad choice.

As a local resident I’m in favour of the development. However the illustration suggests a very prominent selection of buildings which look more urban in size than recreational. I’d suggest they should be more discreet and spread out into the site on the east side of the service road where the river meets the Loch.

better to try and deal with the bigger problem regarding the neds that ruin the place drinking and fighting before spending £30 million
