Whiteburn have obtained planning consent from Borders Council to build 44 new homes within the grounds of a former Innerleithen mill.
The Caerlee Mill project has been developed by City Architecture Office and Goodson Associates and seeks to evoke the site’s industrial past through provision of a network of lanes and courtyards.
Whiteburn’s Roger Bainbridge, responsible for design and delivery of the scheme, said: “With our Caerlee Mill project we hope to show that new-build housing can be designed and delivered with consideration for the heritage and context of the site. Our homes have been designed with an emphasis on natural daylight and flexible living space to provide comfortable, contemporary homes.”
A variety of uses are currently being investigated for restoration of the mill building itself.
