Trump Organisation unveils plans for 500 Menie homes

The Trump Organisation has filed plans for a £150m residential development in Aberdeenshire as part of a second phase of development at its Menie golf course, including 500 homes, 50 hotel cottages, a sports centre, shops, equestrian centre and commercial units.

Branded as The Trump Estate the community is being masterminded by Covell Matthews and Douglas & Stewart Construction, with the aim of integrating the homes within 1,500 acres of grounds that include woodland, meadows and sand dunes.

Lead architect Andy McNair wrote: “The organised, geometric and regular layouts typically associated with traditional towns and villages is a refreshing improvement to the uncontrolled, sprawling developments of modern planning.

“There is a recognised beauty in the vernacular architecture seen in the North East of Scotland, an aesthetic that we can confidently deploy in this development to long exceed the longevity of the fashionable contemporary.”

Properties will be finished in natural slate, granite and render with traditional timber sash and case windows matched with timber fascia detailing and elaborate entrance porches.

Subject to detailed planning approval the homes will break ground in 2019.

The development has been inspired by local villages such as Monnymusk

It's astounding
Time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely..
(Not for very much longer)
I've got to keep control

Big Andy doing an absolutely wonderfully fantastical job on this. The best architecture of houses The Trump Estate has ever seen. Great guy. Wonderful. Fantastic. These bad commenters don't know what they're talking about. SAD.

You know those sentences that make Architects sound like tools?

There are absolutely NO traditional houses in Aberdeenshire that look anything remotely like those...things

Let the feeding frenzy begin! Might I suggest to Covell Matthews that once you have committed to sell your soul to the devil, make sure you have a watertight contract which commits the orange baboon to paying your fees.....whuch are hopefully huge.

Lest face it...you aint going to get any gongs, awards or peer group praise from this venture, so you might as well fill yer boots with Trump's cash.

Trumpbury indeed; which is to say it could (further details, of course, pending) be a model New Urbanist development. i.e. not just pro forma mixed use urbanism but also featuring the the kind of architecture and landscaping people - or at least, people who want to live in that part of the world - like. Every other housing development on these pages looks dreary by comparison. Clearly there are even people with worse taste than Donald Trump.. the planning profession..

To jest prawdziwa jako??. Szkoda, ?e tak wielu tzw. Architektów w Szkocji wydaje si? rzuca? pogard? na to, ?e woli "projektowa?" ceglane pud?a, czasami z pochylonymi p?askimi dachami. Nadchodzi rewolucja.

I'm not hugely keen on the larger homes proposed, however I think the smaller cottages look good.
