SEC doubles up with twin conference venue vision

Scottish Event Campus have initiated a feasibility study for an ambitious £150m expansion of its Clyde campus to accommodate a new conference facility and expanded exhibition space.

Tandem facilities would allow the SEC to host dual events for the first time as it steadily builds out its Glasgow campus, most recently with two new hotels bringing 400 new rooms when they complete next year.

SEC chief executive Peter Duthie commented: "The new conference facility would allow us to stage two events simultaneously or large conferences on a scale that we currently can't offer.

“The development of the two hotels is expected to begin in the summer of 2018 with opening anticipated in 2019. This will increase the number of hotel bedrooms around the campus from 950 to almost 1,400 and will be an invaluable addition to support our growing conference and exhibition sectors as well as our live entertainment offering."

SEC has already opened discussions with the UK and Scottish governments to secure finance for the expansion.
