Aberdeen ramps up council house delivery with 302 Dyce homes

Aberdeen City Council is ramping up the large-scale delivery of new council housing by progressing a 302-home social housing project on brownfield land at Wellheads Road, Dyce, six miles north west of the city centre.
The Halliday Fraser Munro design is spread across five north/south oriented blocks of four and five storeys, sandwiching a series of linear parks and a shared surface square while retaining mature planting along Stoneywood Road as a protective buffer.
“Ground level properties, many with private gardens, have full height glazed window/door screens providing lively active frontage and direct access to the open space. This also allows the ground floor to have a distinct architectural expression.
“At roof level various properties are furnished with zinc sheeting providing a varied roofline to the buildings and defining the top of each flat unit. This animated roofline is enhanced by varying heights reflecting the individual flat footprints and emphasised by the stepping of the flats and use of different materials.”
Further accentuation is achieved through use of darker brick to recessed areas and white render to mis-prominence homes and a light brick for the most visually prominent elements.

Desperate. Thought Malcolm Fraser was design director for these muppets? Yet to see anything from HFM displaying any architectural quality or aspiration.

We used to do this in Glasgow in the 1950's and 60's, build social housing six miles from the city center. It was a huge success...

Are these the backcourt views? - are there any views of the fronts of the buildings...
