Cumbernauld fills out with fresh flats plan
Standard Real Estate and George Buchanan Architects have brought forward planning in principle for 12 new build flats at Redwood Road, Cumbernauld.

Illustrative plans filed with North Lanarkshire Council envisage a pitched roof four storey block overlooking an area of landscaped parking for 22 vehicles and shared amenity space.

In a statement Jigsaw Planning wrote: “The proposal submitted is for illustrative purposes and seeks to maximise the number of flatted units that can be accommodated within the site whilst meeting the requirements of the local planning authority for amenity.”

Located outwith the town centre the proposed scheme would occupy vacant ground adjacent to the Woodcutter Pub and is bounded by a belt of mature trees.

This area of Abronhill is green belt land which again has been given way to Sanctuary and their strong hold in this town. Abronhill does not have the infrastructure to accommodate a new area in this part of the town only a few years ago Abronhill High School was demolished Why? When such plans were afoot where will all the children of the families being brought into this part town be schooled the schools in this part of town are at there limit The new Academy will also not be big enough to accommodate an influx all public services are bursting at the seams Doctors,Dentist and no facilities for leisure either.
This is I’ll thought out and the planners and the Council should hang there heads in shame at these disgusting plans the wildlife in our town is already scarce lining pockets is no way to run a town.

There is hardly any green spaces left in abronhill, the land mentioned is merely a spare patch of grass and adding further housing to it is only going to add to the concrete jungle it has become. Buses often become full by the time they even reach carbrain or the town centre so cramming more people into abronhill seems nonsensical.

I can't comment on amount of green spaces etc. all I'll say is do yourselves a favour and dial the sketchy lines back from 11.
