Almondvale West Retail Park breaks ground

Almondvale West Retail Park breaks ground
3DReid have broken ground on a £3.5m overhaul of Almondvale West Retail Park in Livingston, dragging a row of ‘dated’ units into the 21st century.

Dominated by a flagship Next outlet behind a distinctive glass façade the scope of work also makes provision to upgrade adjoining stores through application of faceted anodic gold cladding, new storefronts and enhanced public realm.

Existing car parks will also be resurfaced with perforated ‘totem’ style signage employed to guide visitors around the new environment.

Project architect Gordon Anderson wrote: "3DReid aims to give a distinct and high-quality finish to Almondvale West Retail Park, bringing a contemporary look-and-feel to a place which currently feels dated. The impressive glass façade and the detailed cladding offer significant aesthetic improvements that will help Almondvale West stand out from the adjacent architecture and connect it visually with The Centre."

Completion of the new look retail park is expected by the autumn and follows an earlier refresh of Straiton Retail Park by Peel.
Outkets will be unified through use of glass and anodised aluminium

These still look dated 3dReid. Sooooo 2011. No amount of golden cladding can polish this turd.
About time we stopped peddling retail parks selling cheap 'fashion', sewn together by toddlers to car reliant ignoramuses.

The cladding looks pretty interesting - but jars a bit with the signage? Its definitely an upgrade to the existing units and anything that drags Livingston into "2011" would be an achievement.

Obviously I know this... because I'm a car reliant ignoramus, who buys cheap clothes because my salary is so crap. We cant all live like Presidents, Bob.

My heart bleeds MV. Same money on petrol, shop local and buy less mass produced sh1t, job done.
Worrying that there are people in the industry who think the cladding is 'pretty interesting'...

Boab. I do shop local, in Livingston. People actually (and somewhat unfortunately) live here- but you weren’t to know... living in your little idyllic world... cycling between farm shops and local tailors... I bet the sun is always shining and the birds are always singing too. Utopia.

As for the cladding... at least it’s not kingspan microrib (or similar and approved). Unless it is micro rib - and then I’ll take it back.
