Botanics showstopper seeks to seduce purchasers

Spanning four floors the four-bedroom property is one of 94 flats and townhouses to be built on the BBC’s former home at Queen Margaret Drive at a cost of £45m.

Exterior: banal but unoffensive

Upper floor clad in composite boarding....is this appropriate for this (or any!) location. At least it appears to be secret fixed unlike the same architects effort in the Grange, Edinburgh. Why not take the brick up another storey? There is no set back or structural issues and you ain't fooling anybody that the top floor is 'breaking up the mass'.

Where can I get me a shimmering gold and glass coffee table, like the one in the 'cinema room'? I too want people to think I'm a retired porn producer from the late 70s.

The town houses are good: they are clearly modern but nod to traditional architecture. They are better than those built in St Vincent Place/Fettes Row in Edinburgh New Town.
The tenements, sorry apartments, remind me of the old Edinburgh infirmary development which seems to have attracted less criticism for an even more prominent site.
I am not a fan of Barrat homes but this is not a bad development.

I had a walk past the development a couple of months ago for a nosey. The townhouses look good- really smart and good quality materials.
The flats at the back are poor- especially the start towers which look very out of sorts, and the carports at ground level offer little to the sense of place.
The terraces over looking the river are a nice idea, but I wonder if they will ever be used as they felt a bit of a 'no mans land'.
