Queen Street Station revamp begins in earnest
An upgrade of Glasgow’s Queen Street Station is set to get fully underway this Sunday with the erection of temporary entrances, walking routes and road layouts to facilitate the build.

This will see the relocation of a ticket office to Dundas Street and closure of the George Square entrance as perimeter hoardings are erected to allow an office block standing in the way of redevelopment to be safely cleared.

In a statement Network Rail said: “While we are fully committed to carrying out these enhancements as quickly as possible and with the minimum of inconvenience for the city, some disruption from work on this scale is unavoidable.

“We thank station users for their patience and co-operation as we deliver this important investment in their station.”

The works are being delivered as part of the Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme which aims to slash journey times and boost capacity on the route by 2019.

Specify all that glass correctly, otherwise you'll cook and blind people constantly in the summer time!
