New uses are being sought for 6.5-hectare Knab Campus in advance of the decant of staff and pupils to a purpose built campus at Stanley Hill, incorporating a mix of homes, open space and landscaped grounds.
As part of this work three listed buildings; Anderson Institute; and the Janet Courtney and Bruce Hostels, will be given a fresh lease of life.
Councillor Alastair Cooper said: “This is a positive step forward for the Knab Campus that will help us create the vision for the site and to see it developed as soon as practicable. 7N Architects have considerable experience and an established pedigree working on other campus projects across Scotland and their expertise will be invaluable.”
A design team comprising David Narro Associates, David Adamson and Partners, Groves-Raines Architects, Rankin Fraser Landscape Architects and Systra has been appointed been appointed by Shetland Island Council to attain this vision.
