40 affordable homes planned for Springburn Way
George Buchanan Architects and AS Homes have brought forward revised plans to construct 40 affordable flats at Springburn Way, two miles north of Glasgow city centre.

The brownfield site was once occupied by tenements before being cleared in the 1970s for a road realignment since which it has lain as open scrubland.

Proposals seek to re-establish a streetscape with four storey blocks fronting the south west and south east boundaries of the triangular plot with a ‘feature corner’ where they meet.

In their design statement the architects observed: “A red multi facing brick - will be used throughout the development as the main material, tying all blocks and landscaping together. A darker, grey facing brick will be utilised in small, key locations such as recesses defining entrances. Texture and richness is also added to these areas via the use of brick ribbed detailing.”

Entrances will be defined by recesses to the elevation.

Would like to know how you go about renting one of the flats, and when they will be finished thanks
