Ann Nisbet Studio walked away with the best in show award for ‘Newhouse of Auchengree’, a zinc-clad home in North Ayrshire which was praised as ‘A house with a strong sense of place and location, which made the architectural experience ever more complex.’
It was joined on the night by Mhor Micro, a pair of Perthshire pavilions designed by Line Architecture to serve as a creative laboratory which won out in the small works category for offering its young architects the chance to ‘prototype and create beautiful small scale installations in an inspiring location’.
These were joined on the winner’s podium by Page/Park’s Saunders Centre, recent recipient of the Doolan prize, and the Westwater building by the same practice at Dollar Academy.
Other winners were JM Architects for James Gillespies High School; HLM’s Tigh na Croit; Collective’s Glasgow Women’s Library; 3DReid’s Dakota Deluxe, a 1960’s office conversion and a joint accolade for Keppie and Hoskins for Ballymena Health Centre.
ARPL were awarded the small practice portfolio.
