Provanhall visitor centre secures £500k council grant
A bid to refurbish and extend the historic Provanhall House in the Easterhouse area of Glasgow to create a visitor centre and gateway to the planned Seven Lochs Wetland Park has been given a £500k boost in the form of a council grant.

Overseen by conservation architect Fiona Sinclair and City Design Cooperative acting as landscape architects the work will see an existing cobbled courtyard replaced with flagstone paving.

Interior renovation plans are still subject to detailed design work by an in-house council team.

Councillor Frank McAveety, leader of Glasgow City Council, said: “This is a great day for Easterhouse town centre and the wider area. Today’s decision by the council allows the redevelopment of one of the city’s oldest buildings and the creation of a fantastic visitor centre which will play a key role in the continuing regeneration of Easterhouse.”

The work forms part of the £6m Easterhouse Town Centre Action Plan which is likely to lead to a refurbishment of the Shandwick Square shopping centre and public realm enhancements.

Good to see Provan Hall and Blochairn House (which sits on the south side of the courtyard) coming back into public use. I do echo #1's comment on replacing the original cobbles with ugly flagstone: that is simply vandalism by the authorities.
