Aberdeen key worker housing hits planning snag
NHS Grampian’s bid to erect 110 key worker homes within the grounds of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has hit a snag after the plans were recommended for refusal by Aberdeen City Council planners.

Conceived by Halliday Fraser Munro and Grampian Housing Association the project was intended to provide much needed accommodation for hospital staff, emergency workers and teachers.

Objecting to the scheme however planners voiced concern at the detrimental impact on the area’s character and green space.

Craig Stirrat, director of business development at Grampian Housing Association, commented: “It is extremely disappointing that Aberdeen City Council’s planning officers are recommending refusal of our joint development with NHS Grampian at Foresterhill Court.

“In particular, the development would help NHS Grampian address its staffing shortage which is linked to the lack of affordable housing within the city for key workers.”

Councillors will have the final say over whether the scheme should be progressed at a meeting on Thursday.

Aberdeen Planners are out of control and need to be reigned in. They are a serious inhibiting factor on economic progress in Aberdeen just when the City needs it.

dell, the clue is in the article if you care to read it “In particular, the development would help NHS Grampian address its staffing shortage which is linked to the lack of affordable housing within the city for key workers.”
The key word there is affordable

plenty of affordable places in Aberdeen this weather Mr A retired Architect. Empty hotels, empty bars. No need for new accommodation.
