Glasgow office refurbishment moves ahead
An extensive refurbishment of Glasgow’s Highlander House is to move ahead with a full internal strip out and recladding overseen by Cooper Cromar on behalf of Sandy Holdings.

This will see the roof renewed and lower levels re-clad in stone with a new roof terrace added at second floor level.  This will dovetail with a refurbishment of reception areas, the creation of basement shower and changing facilities and upgraded services.

The work by McLaughlin & Harvey will provide 40,000sq/ft of category A office space within the eight storey Waterloo Street block.

An adjacent property is subject to an ambitious tower-led redevelopment plan by Whiteburn which could move on-site next year.

Really underwhelming and hardly newsworthy. Missed opportunity to reinstate the building line by extending the building out to the street creating more floorspace.

#1 I don't think "reinstating" the building line would be the correct approach for this site in consideration of the tower element to the adjoining property.

Spot on #2.
I like it, simple effective better than current, etc. You'd like them to try something a bit more original but, in terms of pallete, materials, etc. It's fine., imo.

Agree with #1 to an extent. Box-like lower front doesn't look great, a curve from street level to top would have better "reinstated the building line", and also preserved view of tower in adjacent property.

#2 So its okay at ground and first floor levels to maintain the building line but not on the upper floors???? err....
