18 housing projects make 2016 Saltire shortlist
The Saltire Society has named 18 projects in its shortlist for its 2016 housing design awards ahead of announcing the winners at the end of the month.

This year’s bash will be themes on the ‘Test of Time’ with Jude Barber of Collective Architecture teaming up with broadcaster Kirsty Wark to chair a discussion on which past winners have stood up best to the march of time.

Wark said: “There’s so much creativity in the housing sector in Scotland, such thoughtful forward thinking architecture and design which enhances our cityscapes and landscapes, so that our houses can be a joy to experience, either dwelling in them…or admiring them!”

Category winners will be announced on 30 June after Paper Igloo won last year's Saltire Medal for an Invergarry farmhouse conversion.

In the flatted scheme, is that someone's lounge patio door opening onto the back of a big kerb and the public walkway? Must feel like the proverbial goldfish bowl....
