Cooper Cromar have submitted plans to transform Aberdeen’s Broadford Works into an ‘urban village’ constituting 890 homes and associated leisure, crèche/nursery, restaurant, cafe and bar facilities, small office and retail space.

An application for planning permission in principle on behalf of Ferness calls for listed industrial buildings to be retained and converted to provide a mix of private rental and student accommodation.

Largely conforming to the approved masterplan the latest bid will include retention of existing cobbled streetscapes where possible including new hard and soft landscaping and an ‘entrance square’.

A soft strip of buildings slated for removal has already concluded ahead of their imminent demolition to open up the compound to greater amenity uses and circulation.
