Nord Architecture is to switch their focus to London and Melbourne following the departure of Mark Bell and Brian McGinley from the Glasgow office to form their own practice.

This has led to the temporary closure of its Glasgow office at Aird’s Lane but Nord insist that they remain committed to the city and are actively recruiting to get the team up and going again within the South Block studios.

In a statement Nord director Alan Pert told Urban Realm: “Mark and Brian have set up a new practice which is great and I'm supporting them as much as possible. Both are ex-students of mine and I think it's great that they are taking the plunge into practice. Graeme Williamson who was our London director for the last few years is looking after things in Scotland but we have a new appointment starting in Glasgow.”

These moves have come too late to save some of the practices current work however with Maggie’s Centres deciding to hand Nord’s Maggie’s Forth Valley project to London-based Garbers & James in the wake of the disruption.
