£250m UK City Deal signed in Aberdeen
Prime Minister David Cameron is to visit Aberdeen later today following agreement of a £500m City Deal for Aberdeen following a similar agreement with Glasgow.

Jointly funded with the Scottish government the initiative will fund a range of proposals across the region over the next 10 years; including an energy innovation centre, expansion of Aberdeen Harbour and support for the struggling oil and gas sector.

Scottish secretary David Mundell said: "This UK City Deal will help deliver that and demonstrates our commitment to this very important part of Britain’s economy. We have seen in Glasgow the extra jobs and growth that this kind of deal can bring, and I want to see the same achieved in and around Aberdeen."

The Scottish government will also plough separate tranche of £254m in funding into the city and wider region to improve journey times and capacity on rail links to the central belt and unlock land for new housing.

Don, promised by who, when?
It seems to me that "recession proof" Aberdeen should have fixed the roof whilst the sun was still shining. Why is the UK tax payer being asked to subsidise it now?
And where are the Scottish Government finding all this money to throw at the problems in the area?
