Hypostyle unveil timber clad car park at Glasgow hospital
Hypostyle have unveiled the second of four multi-storey car parks planned for the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

The six level rectangular concrete structure is clad in horizontal Siberian larch louvres, punctured by the helical forms of two access ramps, themselves clad in vertical natural larch slats which contrasts with a glazed corner stair tower.

In a statement Hypostyle noted: “Frameless ‘structural’ glazing is used to the outer walls of the stair towers allowing daylight to flood in and clear views out, contrasting with the filtered light quality of the parking decks, enclosed in lightly timbered screens. The solid walls and roof elements of the stairs are finished in smooth white render, enhancing the simple, clean lines. The stair towers are designed to act as light beacons at night.”

Set in landscaped grounds a number of bike stands have been included for use by staff and visitors.

Note sure .... if a building looks better at night - is that still a success?

its been open for 6 months???
The entrance is far too tight and bumped and scraped already. Poorly signed as pensioners try and go up the wrong ramp
Not big enough either
Wood on sister car park looks faded and old already
