Work gets underway on Stirling primary school revamp
Robertson Construction has moved on-site with an £8.2m refurbishment and expansion of St Ninian’s Primary, on behalf of Stirling Council and Hub East Central Scotland.

This will see the existing Victorian schoolhouse retained as a nursery whilst an adjoining two storey school is built on the site of the modern school, with classrooms and facilities arranged along a central spine.

Robertson Construction Central managing director, David Cairns, said: “We’ve spent several weeks clearing and preparing the site and it’s great now to be able to start work on delivering this new school for the community who we’ll be working closely with throughout the build.”

The revamped school has been designed by AHR and is scheduled to open its doors next autumn.

AHR's website demonstrates a portfolio of some great schools. What has happened here? The appearance of being designed in plan, without any site specifics, no joy. It appears more as an out of town office block. Such a shame - the existing building on the site has character. I'd love to hear about the merits of the scheme.

I don't think this image does it justice - the site hoardings have just come down and to be fair it looks pretty good. It will be interesting to see what the kids and teachers think of it though.
