According to GE Money Home Lending research, 21 per cent of Scots own their own homes and 33 per cent have a mortgage, less than the UK average of 26 per cent and 36 per cent respectively (The Scotsman ).

Labour councillors are allegedly split over plans for a bar and nightclub within Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens following written opposition from senior official Hanzala Malik (The Herald).

Construction firm the Kier Group has sold its 50 per cent stake in the Hairmyres Hospital private finance initiative project in East Kilbride (The Herald).

MSP Bruce Crawford took part in a turf cutting ceremony at United Auctions new £11 million mart site at Hill o’Drip in Stirling (The Scotsman).

Controversial plans for an 18 turbine wind farm at Auchencorth Moss near Penicuik were thrown out by Midlothian Council following 2,400 objections and opposition from groups including Scottish Wildlife Trust and Friends of the Pentlands (The Scotsman).

The last house in Scotland designed by Charles Rennie Macintosh, a three storey property in four acres of land in Kilmacolm, is on the market for offers over £1.15 million (The Herald).

Peter Morrison, chief executive of Holyrood Parliament architect RMJM, was rewarded with a 37 per cent pay rise last year, as it emerged that the company’s profits soared 90 per cent to just over £4million (The Herald).

Experts have estimated that the cost of replacing the main cable on the Forth Road Bridge could cost £122 million and take years to complete (The Scotsman).
