Pennywell regeneration push wins plaudits
Urban Union, developer behind the award-winning Laurieston development in Glasgow, are seeking to replicate their success in the west with completion of the first new homes within the Pennywell regeneration area of Edinburgh.

Pennywell Living will offer 356 social and mid-market rent homes plus a further 363 properties for private sale upon completion following a £42m investment by City of Edinburgh Council (CEC), including a £7.9m Scottish Government grant.

The scheme has already secured a silver award from the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) in recognition of its appearance, respect for the local community, environmental performance, safety and care for its workforce.

Graeme Nicol, managing director, Urban Union, said: “We are all delighted with this recognition from the CCS. Our construction manager Brian Pettigrew and his team take great pride in delivering the Pennywell Living project to the highest standard.”

The Barton Willmore designed project is being delivered as part of CEC’s 21st century Homes initiative which is targeting delivery of 1,400 home son brownfield sites throughout the city.
