Moxon see off Sutherland Hussey and Roderick James to win Wild Cabins contest
Moxon Architects have won a design competition to create a number of short-stay holiday cabins for artists and cultural thinkers, seeing off shortlisted schemes from Sutherland Hussey and Roderick James.

Wild Cabins was organised by social enterprise Wide Open in a bid to connect people with remote landscapes by building contemporary shelters in out of the way places around the UK.

Moxon’s solution sees small clusters of off-grid cabins built to provide creature comforts to guests in some of Britain’s most remote landscapes.

Each cabin will make use of off grid technology and is designed to be easily moveable to prevent damage to the landscapes it seeks to promote.

An accompanying cultural programme will also offer opportunities for artists to explore identity, distinctiveness and the overlapping potential of places and people.

Wide Open are currently looking for landowners interested in playing host to the cabins.

...what's wrong with a caravan? If these cultural "thinkers" want to go outdoors without wrecking the landscape the could simply join the mountain both association and stop being so pretentious.

These cabins are a much more welcome sight in the wild than a stinking, beige, fibreglass caravan being lugged around by your broon Nissan Cherry.

Calm down Van. Slightly bizarre high horse you're on there. Is architecture worth nothing at all?
