Page\Park see off competition for Edinburgh mill conversion
Page\Park architects have beaten off competition from Elder & Cannon, Malcolm Fraser Architects, Oliver Chapman, Reiach & Hall and Richard Murphy Architects to win a £5.7m base for Edinburgh Printmakers, Fountainbridge.

The print making charity had previously commissioned Chapman to undertake a feasibility study and initial Heritage Lottery Fund application for Castle Mills, which will see the historic canalside factory transformed with printmaking studios, gallery spaces, café, bar and retail.

This work will see the phased undertaking of external repairs and the creation of open plan floor plates with improved access by lift and stairs.

Formerly home of the North British Rubber Company the 2,000sq/m C-listed building has since fallen into disrepair and is currently languishing on the Buildings at Risk Register.

It is hoped to open the new headquarters in 2017.

This bodes well. They did a great job with the unpromising William Robertson Building.
