Dualchas and Denizen Works make RIBA Manser shortlist
Dualchas Architects and Denizen Works have been shortlisted for a 2014 RIBA Manser Medal for their work in the delivery of Cliff House, Skye; and House No 7, Tiree, respectively.

The minimalist cliff-side home and restored ‘black house’ join four other practices in a race for the housing design prize.

RIBA President Stephen Hodder commented: “The six homes in the running for this year’s Manser Medal are the best of British housing design. With each of the projects, the architects have added real value to the homeowner’s happiness and wellbeing. The originality, ingenuity and innovation on show in this shortlist should be an inspiration for anyone planning to build or make improvements to their own home.

“I encourage the UK’s volume house builders to look at the shortlisted schemes – we all deserve to live in homes that comfort and delight us.”

Also in the running for the gong are MELOY Architects for The Kench, Hampshire; Alison Brooks Architects for Lens House, London and Jamie Fobert Architects with Luker House, London. Loyn & Co round out the half dozen entries with Stormy Castle, Wales.

The winner will be announced on 16 October.
