Cambridge Science Park station secures go-ahead
Plans to construct a new train station at Cambridge Science Park have been given the green light by Cambridgeshire County Council, bringing the development within a 30 minute commute of London.

The transport hub will incorporate a new public square and provide facilities for interchange with buses, cyclists, cars and pedestrians on the northern fringe of the University City.

Designed by Atkins’ Glasgow studio in collaboration with Network Rail the scheme will connect to the new town of Northstowe and is defined by a perforated diamond motif of rainscreen cladding derived from John Horton Conway’s ‘Game of Life’.

Stan Doyle, director, Atkins said: “We’ve worked together to create a landmark building which will help transform the area and provide a platform for economic growth. Our design puts the passenger experience first, whilst acknowledging Cambridge’s leading role in the development of science and technology.”

Construction of the project is expected to commence shortly for completion by 2015 and follows completion of Atkins' Dalmarnock Station revamp.
