Designed by ARPL the scheme will entail re-purposing the grey whinstone church hall to become a multi-purpose performance and function room, with ancillary activities housed within a new-build extension to the side.
Treated as a modern counterpoint to the historic church the extension takes the form of a cedar shingle clad wedge conjoined with the church by way of a central entrance hall, which in time will weather to a light grey colour.
The irregular shape of this extension provides additional benefits in the form of a larger volume and enhanced acoustics whilst a glazed elevation to the west provides expansive views across Wigtown Bay.
