Wishaw health centre given go ahead
Plans to construct a new health centre in Wishaw have been given the final go ahead from the Scottish Government, clearing the way for Graham Construction to begin work on a £23m Reiach & Hall designed community building.

This will unite a replacement health centre, library, First-Stop-Shop and council services under one roof in the town centre, within a single 7,800sq/m building.

Incorporating a rooflit central atrium and a palette of brick and timber the build is intended to marry long term flexibility with upgraded facilities.

Health secretary Alex Neil commented: "Having the right facilities in the right place is important to people across Scotland and this development is a prime example of how continued investment in our NHS is benefiting patients, by providing them with quality care as close to home as possible.”

The health centre is one of three new health centres planned for the region; the others being located at Wishaw and East Kilbride.
The existing health centre will be demolished to amke way for a new car park
