Situated in East Kilbride, Wishaw and Kilsyth each new building will incorporate a GP surgery and community healthcare facilities. Wishaw, the largest of the three, will also incorporate a library, housing office and council service desk.
A spokesperson for the practice said: “Each building has a significant rooflit central atrium, appropriate to the size of the facility, and a calming aesthetic based around plaster, timber and wall tiles.
“Considerable effort has been expended on achieving maximum short and long term flexibility. For instance the issue of fluctuating practice size in a multi practice centre is resolved by treating circulation as shared space and employing a closed plan, allowing the boundaries between practices to shift over time. Allied to this a square 14.7m2 room has been designed which can cater for 23 different briefed room types. With no (or only minor) alteration, each room can have its use altered as requirements change.”
All three buildings are being procured via the Scottish Futures Trust’s Hub process.
Construction work on all three centres, including EK (pictured), will commence in January for completion by mid-2015
