Work to create a new Himalayan Centre for Arts and Culture within the former Dr. Bells Swimming Pool, Leith, following a period of planning and fundraising by a small group of dedicated volunteers.

This £1m project is being overseen by Hardies Property & Construction Consultants who were appointed by Nepal Scotland Association to project manage the build through to completion

To be used by the Nepalese, as well as local and other diaspora communities, the new centre will open its doors in six months time,whilst also supporting artists and promoting low carbon living.

Sunita Poddar, honorary consul of Nepal to Scotland said: "I have donated this stunning example of Victorian architecture, which I believe will be an inspirational beacon for Scotland that will bring together local and diverse communities, a real multi-cultural community centre. The Himalayan Centre aims to promote well-being, greater awareness, connectivity and understanding between communities.”
