Nigg Energy park expansion submitted
Plans for a £37m expansion of the South Quay at Nigg Energy Park have been submitted to Highland Council by Global Energy Group.
The scheme makes available an additional 1,000m of quayside for the offshore oil and gas sector, providing deep water access along with associated fabrication facilities for the burgeoning energy sector.

A number of surplus buildings have already been demolished to make way for the project, generating 32,000 tonnes of waste material which will be used for landscaping.

In addition new 50 and 200 tonne bollards have been installed along the dock wall and a new concrete lining applied to the dock basin.
Global Chairman, Roy MacGregor said: “With a strong order book for the dry dock facility, it became clear to us that sea access to the site would continue to be limited and would constrain further growth. “The existing South Quay is shallow and in poor condition so there is an urgent need to repair this and at the same time create more space.

“We have consulted widely with the public agencies and local communities to ensure everyone has had the opportunity to share their views and are pleased to report very positive feedback. If we can secure planning approval this summer, we would look to commence work this autumn with a completion date by the summer of 2015.”
