Plans to erect 100,000sqft of office accommodation on the River Clyde have secured outline planning permission, clearing the way for marketing to commence on finding possible tenants.

Designed by GMA|Ryder, on behalf of Zed Developments (working in conjunction with Duddingston House Properties), the £15m scheme will occupy a triangular site bounded by Glasgow Green, the Clyde and Rutherglen Bridge.

Arranged around a series of courtyards facing toward the river to maximise views the scheme will entail construction of four, three-storey pavilions each with narrow floorplates to maximise natural daylight and ventilation.

This follows a recent compulsory purchase order issued by Glasgow City Council for nine packets of land at Newhall Street, one just 1sqm in extent, after being approached by Zed to enable the construction of a new office development.

This process will entail GCC purchasing the land and handing ownership to the developer, who will reimburse all costs associated with the order.

Clyde Gateway has been approached to assist with the demolition of buildings on site as part of their wider remit to regenerate Glasgow’s east end.
