Kincardine affordable homes unveiled
A £9m development of 65 new affordable homes has been officially opened in Kincardine by Kingdom Housing Association – supplanting twin tower blocks which were demolished in 2010.

Developed in partnership with Fife Council and the Scottish Government the homes constitute the first phase of a larger regeneration plan which will commence following demolition of the last remaining tower block later this year.

Constructed using a closed panel system with solar thermal panels installed in each home the estate has been built to a high standard of energy efficiency.

Designed by Oliver and Robb Architects and built by Campion Homes the project incorporates a range of accommodation, including wheelchair friendly flats and properties with up to five bedrooms.

Kingdom’s chairperson Charles Milne said: “The project has been a significant redevelopment of the area, providing good quality new homes to meet the needs of tenants who previously lived in the high flats.

“As most of the tenants were known to us beforehand, we had the opportunity to involve them in the design of the project and were able to introduce more elements of tenant choice into the proposals.
