Arts and Crafts style Arran home completed
John Lamb Architect has completed an arts and crafts style family home in Brodick, Arran, that is virtually self-sufficient for heating and water.

Employing a cantilever to maximise floor space on the upper level, as well as affording shelter to front and rear entrances, the scheme is intended to marry contemporary and traditional influences whilst maximising views out to sea.

Clad in render and zinc the home is open plan internally with solar panels and an air to water heat pump powering its sustainability credentials.

Lamb told Urban Realm: “We managed to combine something contemporary with the traditional by adopting an arts and crafts style. It fits in with the neighbouring traditional buildings while at the same time, making a statement.

“A good house layout should be ideal for parties. Internally, all the public spaces flow, separated only by level changes in the floor and ceiling. By using full height glazing in south facing spaces and elevating the living room we achieved our clients biggest wish; to maximise views over the golf course to the sea.”

Been there a few years now. Looks like he did the lead himself. Meh.
