Trump halts Menie golf resort work over wind farm fears
Donald Trump has called a dramatic halt to all work at his under construction Menie golf estate over fears that a planned off shore wind turbine development will ruin views from his north east resort.

Scottish ministers are currently deliberating over whether to approve plans by the European Offshore Wind Development Centre to erect 11 turbine within view of the development.

But Trump has said that the last thing he intends to do is build a hotel fronting onto the “horrendous looking, noisy and inefficient structures.”

In a statement The Trump Organisation said: "We intend to open the championship golf course at the end of June, well ahead of schedule.

"All further plans for future development, including the hotel, are now on hold until the Scottish government makes a decision on the application for the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre.

"If the north east of Scotland is serious about tourism and creating a global golf destination it cannot allow the coastline to be ruined by an ugly industrial park directly off the shoreline."

The European Offshore Wind Development Centre have put on hold plans to erect a sea wind farm in response to looking onto a "horrendous" structure and complain the golf course will "allow the coastline to be ruined by an ugly, absurdly wigged maniac".

It comes down to economic benefit in the end. Economic benefit from a high-end golf resort versus economic benefit from offshore energy. These offshore wind areas are constrained by more significant factors than golf-balls or private views… maritime and aviation safety, shipping and helicopter lanes, seabed characteristics, conservation designations and so on. The golf course has already had an impact on the landscape so in some ways the case for offshore wind is easier to argue. My sympathy for The Donald is limited and that’s the polite version of what I think.

I'd rather see a wind farm anyday than that awful club house!

Wind turbines waste of time and energy. Give us nuclear Alex.
I also hope to see the Ryder Cup and the Open at the Trump venue in the future. Imagine 100000 people all tramping around on the lovely dunes watching amazing golf. Bliss!

Lets see, we as consumers pay over inflated subsidies on every wind turbine that is erected, meaning we pay more and more in our fuel bills. Only a few will benefit from the erection of these. Also, these will spoil the view for many.

You should not blame trump but the Architect. It's a shame he used Adf, as they are not a very good practise.

He who pays the piper calls the tune, so Alex and Adf just do as they are told and dance their merry jigs (while the rest of us suffer).

As I once heard Isi Mezstein say . "Some people are content to take the view of a cows ass...but im not one one of them"
One thing aberdeen deserves is to have to face
the technology it develops and in its own landscape.
Personally i don't really care what a few select golfers see really as they wil contribute nothing and just take take take. Tourism spin off's ????Would actually feel rather more sorry for the offshore supply boat drivers having to look at those golf jumpers and that hideous assemblage of Ideas + narrow aspiration.
Spoiling the dunes and upsetting the avocets.
