Elder & Cannon lodge Woodlands student housing plans
NOAH City Developments have submitted plans for two student blocks behind the Scottish Ballet School at 261 West Princes Street, Glasgow.

The £4m project will entail demolition of an existing Territorial Army drill hall whilst the Ballet School itself is refurbished.

In their design statement Elder & Cannon architects said: “The ambition within the proposed development is to create a unique environment and a sequence of appropriately scaled internal and external spaces which are conducive to contemplation, study and repose.

“The design strategy is essentially one of ‘good neighbourliness’ where the proposals encourage a positive exchange between all relevant stakeholders to their mutual long term benefit.”

Student housing seems to be the project type of the moment. Nice project. Well done E&C!

We should start to build unemployed ex-student housing in tandem with all the new student housing going up lately.

But seriously, looks rather nice (and being Elder & Cannon I'm sure it will be).

Can someone explain how replacing a warehouse/storage building (current use of drill hall) with 100+ new student flats demonstrates a “strategy of ‘good neighbourliness’ where the proposals encourage a positive exchange between all relevant stakeholders to their mutual long term benefit.”
The builldings are handsome but please, not in my backyard!!!!!!
