Twin Western Isles schools complete
The first two schools to complete under the £125m Western Isles Schools Project (WISP) have opened their doors to pupils - Balivanich Primary School, Benbecula and Point Primary School, Lewis.

The first of six to be planned under the program across the Outer Hebrides each has been delivered by Sgoiltean Ura, a Special Purpose Vehicle established to design, procure, deliver and maintain the schools.

FMP acted as main contractor on the schools in collaboration with consultants Faithful + Gould.

Both schools have been designed by 3DReid Architects in association with Goodson Associates, Wallace Whittle and TGP Landscape Architects.

Martin Joyce, Head of Operations at Sgoiltean Ùra, stated “We are delighted that the first two schools have been completed on time, on budget and to the required quality and performance standards by the main contractor FMP despite the many challenges faced by the entire supply chain serving these geographically remote sites.”

WISP is the largest capital programme ever undertaken by Western Isles Council.
A 28 year facilities and management contract for each school has been signed with FES FM LTD
