Keppie submit SECC Arena Energy Centre for planning

A security gatehouse and energy centre to be sited at the perimeter of Foster’s under construction SECC Arena have been submitted for planning by Keppie.

Composed of rendered blockwork and dressed with a veil of vertical aluminium rods the structures are intended to replicate the colour and finish of the Arena’s own tubular cladding system.

Conventional plant and equipment to supply the main Arena became necessary late on in the design process when it became apparent that a ‘green’ energy solution would not be financially viable.

Foster’s EFTE cushion clad dome has recently been renamed as the “Scottish Hydro Arena”.

I'm doing some decking in my garden, and putting up a shed this summer. I might put this forward, as it seems to be on a parr with this story.

I think you'll find that the scheme was actually designed by Foster + Partners, and Keppie Planning are acting as planning consultants to the project, not the architects...
