VIDEO: Cooper Cromar discuss G1 Glasgow
Simon Walsh of Cooper Cromar discusses his practices work on the G1 building, George Square, a prominent facade retention opposite the city chambers which now counts Jamie Oliver no less, as tenant..

Walsh told Urban Realm: "It was quite a technical challenge, the building was originally built in 1875 and had been dilapidated for about 20 years falling into quite a state of disrepair. One of the biggest technical challenges was facade retention which was one of the biggest and most complicated in the UK.

"Over 1,500 tons of steelwork hold the retained facade up including an additional four storeys."
