Foster’s Clydeside dome to be named ‘Scottish Hydro Arena’
Norman Fosters under construction Clydeside Arena has been given an official moniker after energy supplier Scottish Hydro stepped forward to sponsor the landmark.

It will see the power firms logo and name splashed all over the 12,000 seat venue when it opens to the public in 2013.

The deal will see Scottish Hydro invest £1.5m a year over the next 10 years for the name check.

Foster’s Armadillo follow up will be clad in ETFTE’cushions’ which will allow patterns and images to be projected onto the prominent façade.

SECC chief executive John Sharkey said: "Scottish Hydro shares our vision for the new arena that will position Glasgow and Scotland at the forefront of the global events and entertainment industry."

It's a very good building and I'm sure it'll be a fine venue, but if anything kills public appreciation of the project, it will be the sort of ridiculously parochial hyperbole which just falls short of suggesting it will cure cancer.

Though brian's typing skills are moderately impressive for a 5 year old.
